Empowering Survivors Through

Storytelling & Advocacy

We were honored to attend the Storytelling & Advocacy Training focused on uplifting the voices of cancer survivors and turning lived experiences into powerful tools for change.

This impactful event brought together incredible partners and leaders in public health and advocacy, including TogetHer for Health, Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, 15 Minutes Group (Anne Dickerson), Mission-Driven Tech (Eve McDavid), and the Alabama Department of Public Health (Linda Hayes).

Together, we explored how survivor stories can drive awareness, influence policy, and ultimately help prevent future cancers.

At VAX 2 STOP CANCER, we believe that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to connect, educate, and inspire action. We’re grateful to collaborate with organizations that share our mission of cancer prevention and are committed to amplifying survivor voices across Alabama and beyond.

Barbara Is Retiring!

In 2020, after her own experience as an HPV cancer survivor, Barbara Schuler turned her pain into purpose—founding VAX 2 STOP CANCER to ensure others would have the knowledge and tools to prevent HPV-related cancers.

What started as one woman’s mission has grown into a movement. Through her leadership, dedication, and heart, Barbara has helped expand HPV vaccination efforts across Alabama, reaching providers, communities, and families with life-saving education.

At our recent A Shot at Prevention Luncheon, we were proud to honor Barbara and celebrate all she has accomplished. As she steps away from her role, we do so with immense gratitude.

Barbara’s impact is immeasurable. She will be deeply missed—but her legacy lives on in every life we continue to protect.

“The need is urgent! Children across Alabama still lack access to the life-saving HPV vaccine and trusted information.”

-Barbara Schuler
